First and foremost, the Board of Directors would like to welcome all of our new members to the Beaumont Heritage Society and thank those that have held membership throughout the years. Our organization has a strong commitment to historical preservation and promotion, but it would not be possible without the efforts and energy given by our members, volunteers, staff and board members, both past and current. As a community supported, non-profit organization the Beaumont Heritage Society has been a driving force in preservation of historical landmarks in our town and region.
To continue our mission, it is important that we continuously raise the standards for our history-focused society and raise the standards for historical preservation and education in Beaumont. There has been much discussion between the board and staff on how we can achieve our goals while continuing to grow. The consensus has been that by increasing our members and our focus on community outreach and engagement we can expand our efforts in historical preservation and develop our scope of influence in historical promotion. The BHS will continue events, such as the Heritage Happy Hour series, to invite the public to re-educate themselves with local historical landmarks. We will also be promoting and emphasizing our holiday tours and gatherings with seasonal exhibits at both the John Jay French Museum and the Chambers House Museum. We hope to engage our community by educating them in our area’s rich history and the importance of preservation, while also increasing our membership, fundraising, and participation.
We also want you, our members, to understand that being a member of the Beaumont Heritage Society is an investment in Beaumont and our local history. There are various ways to contribute to your organization including volunteering at the museums and joining one of the various committees chaired by the BHS board. These committees include Building & Grounds, Preservation, Ways & Means, and Membership. While we are asking all members, long-standing and recent, to become involved, we will also be reaching out to potential partners in the community such as local businesses, corporations, and other non-profits with likeminded goals. We want to cultivate partnerships with those that have a passion for history and Beaumont’s best interest at heart. Do not hesitate to step forward or to approach the board and staff with your own interest and ideas. We want every member to be active and understand that we appreciate your investment of time, energy, and donations to the Beaumont Heritage Society. It is your involvement and support that will allow our organization to reach its potential and succeed in future efforts in historical preservation and promotion.
