DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next Heritage Happy Hour on January 19th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Junior League of Beaumont\, located at 2388 Mcfaddin Ave\, Beaumont\, TX 77702! Enjoy craft beer showcased by Giglio Distributing Co.\, wine\, and learn more about the Junior League of Beaumont. \nThe Junior League of Beaumont was organized in 1937 with a membership of 38 and in 1946 became a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International\, Inc. The Junior League of Beaumont is comprised of a diverse group of women with the common desire to make Beaumont a better place to live. The league has not only provided volunteer and financial assistance to numerous organizations in need but has been the driving force in establishing community assistance\, historical and cultural as well as educational organizations that are still in operation today. Some of these include: John J. French Museum\, Beaumont Heritage Society\, Art Museum of Southeast Texas\, Leadership Beaumont\, Jefferson Theatre\, Southeast Texas Food Bank\, Southeast Texas Family Resource Center\, and Beaumont Children’s Museum. \nAdmission:\n-Free for all Beaumont Heritage Society members\n-$10 for all non-BHS members 21+ \nHeritage Happy Hour is an ongoing outreach program typically held every other month\, with each event highlighting a historical landmark\, time\, exhibit\, or organization and features craft beer provided by Giglio Distributing Co. (wine and non-alcoholic beverages also available). We believe that by promoting and sharing our local history and its historical significance in a fun and social way\, we can also share and promote the efforts to preserve Beaumont’s historical landscape. SUMMARY:Dr. William Seale Tree Dedication
DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday\, November 12th\, 2022 at 11 a. m. to dedicate a magnolia tree on the grounds of the John J. French Museum in honor of the life and legacy of Dr. William Seale. William Seale\, Ph.D.\, was an American historian and preservationist. A native of Beaumont\, Dr. Seale completed the historical research that led to the founding of the Beaumont Heritage Society and the John J. French Museum. His scholarship and service to preservation and restoration brought awareness to the value of preserving historic buildings for future generations. \nSpeakers include Judith Linsley and Will Seale. A small exhibit featuring items from Dr. Seale’s life and work will be on display inside Heritage Hall for two weeks following the dedication. \nParking is located at the John Jay French Museum’s Office at 3025 French Rd. Beaumont\, TX 77706.

SUMMARY:Florence Chambers 110th Birthday Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebrating Florence Chambers 110th birthday with a party honoring the legacy she left with the C. Homer and Edith Fuller Chambers Foundation. Take a tour of the bottom floor of the Chambers House Museum\, decorated as it was on the night of her 13th birthday celebration in 1925. Beneficiaries of the C. Homer and Edith Fuller Chambers Foundation will be in attendance to talk about the lasting impact she left with her continued giving. On the lawn\, you can enjoy hors d’oeuvres\, cake\, and punch\, and listen to time-period music DJ’d by Patrick Sanders. The grounds will be decorated with games like cornhole\, croquet\, and lawn bowling. You can also participate in a community painting while learning more about Florence’s work as an artist. This event will take place on October 8th\, 2022\, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Chambers House Museum at 2240 Calder Ave. Beaumont\, TX 77701. Parking is located behind the museum off McFaddin St. in the Chambers House Museum lot and the lot at 2220 Calder Ave. Admission is free for all guests.

SUMMARY:Heritage Happy Hour - Beaumont Botanical Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next Heritage Happy Hour on September 22nd\, 2022 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Beaumont Botanical Gardens in Tyrrell Park! Enjoy craft beer showcased by Giglio Distributing Co.\, wine\, and a stroll in beautifully kept gardens. \nThe Beaumont Council of Garden Clubs\, consisting of garden clubs\, plant societies\, and nature-oriented organizations\, was formed on April 12\, 1951\, to obtain and sustain a public garden center.  In 1968 the City of Beaumont set aside 10 acres of land in the historic Tyrrell Park for the Beaumont Council of Garden Clubs to develop. The original Beaumont Garden Center Building was constructed using bricks from the Southern Pacific Railroad Passenger Station and was dedicated on August 20\, 1971. \nAbout Tyrrell Park: In 1923\, Captain W.C. Tyrrell donated 1500 acres to be used as a park. Between November 24\, 1935\, and June 30\, 1941\, the Civilian Conservation Corps Company 845 built the park entrance way\, stables\, roads\, nature trails\, and recreation buildings.
