Heritage Happy Hour – Carriage House at the McFaddin-Ward House Museum
July 22 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm| $10
Mark your calendars for our next Heritage Happy Hour on July 22nd, 2021 from 5:30-7:30pm! Join us for craft beer showcased by Giglio Distributing Co., wine, and socializing in one of Beaumont’s fascinating historic locations, the Carriage House at the McFaddin-Ward House Museum!
The 8,000-square-foot, two-story carriage house, built in 1907-08, is attributed to Henry Conrad Mauer, architect of the McFaddin-Ward House. It contained space for carriages and automobiles, living quarters for domestic employees, stalls for horses and cows, a hayloft and a gymnasium. Special features included art glass windows, interphones, electricity and plumbing. The carriage house stands on land granted by the Republic of Texas to W.P.H. McFaddin’s father, William. In 1906, Ida and W.P.H. acquired the land when they traded homes with his sister and brother-in-law, Di and W.C. Averill, who had inherited it from William. The carriage house was in continuous use until the death of Mamie McFaddin Ward in 1982. It was restored and opened for tours in 1992.
