Heritage Happy Hour
02/12/2016 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm| $10.00
Heritage Happy Hour (always FREE to BHS members) will be held at the Historic Jefferson Theater in conjunction with Classic Movie night on February 12th, featuring the iconic “Singing in the Rain” starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, and Debbie Reynolds. The Jefferson Theatre is a historic performing arts theatre located on Fannin Street in downtown Beaumont, Texas. Designed by Emile Weil, it is an example of Old Spanish architecture, seats over 1400, and boasts the original Robert Morton organ. The theatre was built by Jefferson Amusement Company, which was owned by Saenger Amusements, at a cost of $1 million and opened November 14, 1927. It is featured on the National Register of Historic Places and recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. Bring a friend and enjoy a drink and movie in this historic Beaumont gem!
Heritage Happy Hour is an on-going partnership between the BHS and Giglio Distributing Co. Each event highlights an historical exhibit, time period, or landmark, as well as craft beer or brewery that is being showcased by Giglio Distributing Co. The event is expected to take place every other month and the location will be subject to change as we highlight historical landmarks throughout our city. The Beaumont Heritage Society and Giglio Distributing Co. believe that by promoting and sharing our local history and its historical significance that we can also share and promote the efforts to preserve Beaumont’s historical landscape.
