We are excited to announce that Camp Lookinback 2022 will be held July 12th – 15th!
Camp Lookinback is a fun and educational four-day summer camp held on the grounds of the historic John Jay French museum. Children, ages 6-11, experience another time in Texas history while in a safe and enriching environment. Each day, children will get to perform hands on activities related to the 1800s. Camp Lookinback is fun for both boys and girls!
Registration is required and SPACE IS LIMITED to 45 CHILDREN and filled on a first come first serve basis. Cost per child is $75.00 for Non-Members and $65.00 for BHS Members.
Camp Schedule
Camp Lookinback 2022 will be held in one session: Tuesday – Friday July 12th-15th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Camp Lookinback is based on a three-year rotating curriculum for a new experience each year. Each day consists of three hands-on activities. This year, activities include (subject to change):
SCHOOL DAYS AND CHORES: Go through a day in the life of Texas Pioneer children with a tour of the John Jay French Museum, an 1800s school day, and a chores relay race!
PLANTS AND ANIMALS: Discover the types and uses of different animals and crops during pioneer times!
WORK AND PLAY: Learn how to operate your own trading post, growing sugarcane, and enjoy period music and dance!
DIGGING INTO THE PAST: Assist with an archaeological dig to learn more about the French family, and the indigenous peoples of the area!
