Camp Lookinback is based on a three year rotating curriculum for a new experience each year. Each day consists of three hands-on activities and a food craft. This year, activities include (subject to change):
ANIMAL CROSSING: Learn about cattle brands, horse care and goats!
CHRISTMAS IN JULY: Did you know that in the 1800’s, people mostly made presents for each other? Enjoy Christmas in July by making gifts out of papier-mache and other craft items and discover how Christmas was celebrated so many years ago!
FUR AND FOOD ON THE FRONTIER: Learn the importance of animals and their role in daily life on the frontier from Big Thicket park rangers. Identify animals from their fur, and learn all about the food web, and even cook on an open flame!
Learn how John Jay French tanned animal hides to make leather and make a leather craft that will be yours to keep! Step back in time to see what it was like to live on the Texas frontier in 1845 by touring the John Jay French House and we will teach you all about quilts and help you design your own quilt square!
